Our Staff

We have a group of talented and experienced coaches, including our head coach, Fred Gundersen who has been coaching for over 35 years. Fred is still involved, but the gym is now run by his two daughter; Paige Steele and Mckell Christensen. At Elite, we take pride in our classes and coaches, always continuing to better staff by having monthly coach trainings and maintaining NGA certified status.

Fred Gundersen,
Founder + Head Coach
Fred started coaching at 16 years old at the Roy Complex and then later taught at Weber State University. In 1988 he opened Elite Gymnastics Academy. His 4 daughters participated in gymnastics for at least some of their childhood with Halie moving to soccer and Sydney moving on to dance. Mckell and Paige competed throughout high school and then received scholarships for cheerleading in college. Gymnastics is a great sport for all kids to learn coordination and body awareness and will translate to any sport. He has been blessed to be able to coach a sport he loves and has been a great life experience being a part of so many kids lives!

Paige Steele
Manager/Coach
I have been participating or coaching gymnastics my entire life. I am lucky enough to call Fred, the owner, my dad and learned to to motivate and teach kids from him. I have been married to Kevin Steele for 12 years and have 3 kids that also love gymnastics, including my oldest son who had the opportunity to compete at nationals. My hobbies include spending time with my family, crossfit, and being outdoors. My favorite part of coaching is watching a gymnast get a skill for the first time or overcoming a fear and the excitement and confidence they gain from that! Gymnastics taught me to work hard, push through struggles and disappointments, and how to build and grow a skillset. This is what I hope to offer all those I teach.

Mckell Christensen
I grew up at Elite Gymnastics, this place is my second home and one of my favorite places to be. My dad and owner, Fred, has taught me everything I know about gymnastics and coaching. I have a passion for our motto; Work Hard, Play Harder. I believe that having fun is essential to improvement! By providing a safe and encouraging environment these kids can thrive in their skill-learning process. I truly am grateful everyday to teach such amazing kids! I knew this was the perfect job for me when I noticed that I leave the gym in a better mood than when I got there.

Cassidy McFarland

In her spare time, she enjoys spending time outside, movies and comedy, going on vacations, and spending time with her family.
Cassidy is passionate about coaching and loves helping children learn new skills and build confidence.

Erin Grimley
Floor Manager
I started out as a gymnast and did gymnastics all the way up until level 7. I have a son who is currently on boys team and is working to be a level 9. I have been coaching gymnastics for a little over 5 years. I am the floor manager and have worked really hard to get to where I am at. I help train the new employees and also get to coach the kids. I enjoy watching all the kids have fun while they are learning. I cant express the joy it brings to me to see a child get the skill that they have been working so hard for. i wouldn't be where I am at today if it wasn't for my amazing employers. I hope to continue coaching until I cannot coach anymore.

Jess Rogers
Boys Team Head Coach
I started gymnastics around 6 years old and continued until I was 14. I was working level 9/10 when I had to quit due to an injury, I continued with cheerleading after that and taught tumbling to my team. I competed along side Fred's team with my home gym for a long time and joined as a coach at Elite in 2015 after graduating high school. I started coaching rec boys and then moved to team soon after and have been coaching the boys team for 9 years. I love watching them learn new skills and grow their self confidence. I hope to continue to teach them hard work, dedication, confidence, and being good teammates all while having fun!

Amanda Baggs
Girls Team Head Coach
I started coming to Elite Gymnastics when I was 3 years old and competed on team until I was about 16. I started coaching soon after that and have been coaching at Elite for 12 years. I have coached the competitive girls team for 10 years. I absolutely love gymnastics and love watching the girls learn and grow. There are so many ways that gymnastics can help kids and I hope to always be a positive influence in the lives of all the kids in my classes.

Armando Visiticion
Boys Team Coach
I started gymnastics at age 6 in Southern California and was a 3 time All star qualifier, 8 time Regional qualifier, 3 time National qualifier and 2018 National High Bar finalist. I have been coaching gymnastics for the last few years and also work as a personal trainer and youth mentor.

Todd Rimmasch
Boys Team Coach
My kids started at Elite Gymnastics in 2018 and I have been coaching since . My two boys are both on the boys team and my little girl is advancing in littles. My kids and their coaches have motivated me to become a coach and to love the sport of gymnastics. I learn just as much from them as they do from me. One of my skill sets as a parent/coach is to be able to break down skills into a language in which kids can understand. I hope to instill a love for gymnastics and sports with hard work and dedication!

Shelby Wolf-Peterson
Girls Team Coach
I did gymnastics for about 6 years and absolutely loved it. After I quit gymnastics I cheered at school until I graduated. Gymnastics is and always has been my favorite!! I have been coaching on and off through highschool as my cheer schedule would allow. I have been coaching at Elite for two years now. Coaching is more than just a job for me, it’s my passion and hobby. I absolutely LOVE what I do. I love watching the girls achieve their goals. I love the relationships that come with being a coach, we laugh together and we cry together! I have such a good bond with all of my girls and they are all like little sisters to me!! I am so lucky to call myself a coach!!

Jacob Creer
My name is Jake and I have always been fascinated with gymnastics. I did gymnastics as a child and continued to follow gymnastics and be inspired by gymnasts while I grew up. The best part of coaching for me is being a mentor and helping gymnasts overcome their fears by learning to believe in themselves. I love watching them learn and grow and become more confident in themselves and build relationships with their peers and coaches. I strive to be a positive figure in each kid's life while I help them build skills that they love!

Taylar Bischoff
Littles/Mommy & Me
I am a mom of two awesome kids and have been coaching gymnastics for a year and a half. I love coaching my Mommy & Me and Littles classes!

Lily Robertson
I went to Elite Gymnastics for 6 years and competed to level 8. I absolutely loved this experience; it taught me how to work hard, have fun, and I met so many amazing friends and coaches throughout the years. I quit two years ago and now enjoy coaching and playing other sports like soccer and lacrosse at Bonneville High school. I have loved the learning experience of becoming a coach especially when I get to see young gymnasts get excited about new skills and perfecting them. I hope to continue to help kids improve and have fun on their gymnastics journey.

Shelly Stephen
Littles/Tweeners/Level 1
Shelly has always been a huge gymnastics fan. She did gymnastics until she was 12. She enjoys working with beginning students that are learning how to do the basics. She loves watching the kid's eyes light up when they get a skill down. In her spare time she enjoys playing the piano, crocheting, reading, and spending time with her husband and 5 kids.

Megan Weinberger
Megan, a dedicated schoolteacher, found her passion for coaching in the gymnastics world through her daughter's early involvement at the age of 4, steering away from the typical "dance mom" role. Her profound love for children and the opportunity to support her daughter's team involvement led her into coaching. Megan was captivated by the sport's ability to instill grit, determination, and invaluable character-building skills in young athletes. For Megan, coaching isn't just about teaching gymnastics; it's about nurturing resilience and personal growth in every child she guides, making a lasting impact both on and off the mat.

Maleah Lucas
I am 18 and I did gymnastics for 8 years when I was younger before taking up cheer for 3 years. I am currently a senior in high school and after I plan to go into Emergency Medicine. In my free time I love to play music and write songs. A fun fact about me is I play 5 instruments and sing!
